Oriel y Parc Gallery and Discovery Centre

When the Pembrokeshire weather turns, head to Oriel y Parc on the edge of St Davids. It’s the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park’s gallery and discovery centre, and it’s a short walk from Tŷ Cosy.

The building itself is worth a look. It’s a low, curving, eco-friendly design that wraps around a central courtyard and sits quietly in the landscape. Inside, the main gallery hosts a changing programme of exhibitions, so there’s often something new to see, even if you’ve been before.

The discovery centre is a great place to find out more about the National Park, from the Coast Path to the wildlife you might spot on a boat trip. The team can help with walk ideas and local information, which is handy for planning the next dry day.

There’s also a shop, and The Brunch House café, a good spot for a coffee and something tasty while you wait out a shower.

The discovery centre and shop are open daily from 9.30am to 5pm, and the main gallery from 10am to 4pm, though it’s worth checking the website before you go. In summer, the Celtic Coaster bus to Whitesands leaves from the car park here too, so it’s a handy starting point when the sun comes back out.
